A dark cloud hovers over the Upper East Region as residents of Binduri and surrounding communities mourn the brutal killing of two undercover police officers by suspected armed robbers.
According to initial reports, the officers—who were not in uniform—were traveling from Bongo to Binduri on a private motorbike when they were ambushed and shot dead by the attackers.
Eyewitnesses say the robbers, believed to be part of a notorious armed gang operating in the area, forcibly stopped the officers before opening fire without warning. After the attack, the assailants made away with the motorbike, leaving the lifeless bodies of the officers by the roadside.
The scene, described as chilling, drew scores of residents who watched in tears and disbelief as emergency responders retrieved the bodies under heavy police presence.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the incident and launched a manhunt for the perpetrators, with reinforcements dispatched to intensify patrols and restore calm in the area.
“We will not rest until the criminals behind this act face justice. These were brave men serving their nation. This is unacceptable,” a police spokesperson stated.
The identities of the slain officers are yet to be officially released, pending notification of their families. However, tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues and community leaders who describe them as committed, courageous, and dedicated to duty.
This incident adds to the rising concerns about security in Ghana’s border regions, where several attacks on civilians and security forces have been recorded in recent months.
As investigations continue, the public is urged to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Afrivibes.net extends condolences to the families of the fallen officers and all affected by this senseless act of violence.
